Estrie Aide’s popular bike sale is back after a two-year hiatus.
On May 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Estrie Aide donation center at 356 Wellington Street South, people will be able to find a selection of nearly 400 used bicycles, all inspected, cleaned and repaired, ready for sale.
Those interested are encouraged to get there early though, as even with a limit of one bike per person, they’ve been known to sell out quickly.
Cash, debit and credit will be accepted, but not checks.
78 additional bicycles were also donated by the Service de police de Sherbrooke, whose owners have unfortunately never been identified.
However, anyone whose bike has been stolen is invited to go to Estrie Aide on May 13 between 9 a.m. and noon, where they can recover their item free of charge, provided they have the original receipt, checked by a police officer on site. .
Over the past decade of organizing this event, Estrie Aide has delivered more than 4,100 bikes home, to the delight of the environment and those who have a new bike.
Bikes of all shapes and sizes are up for grabs, including mountain bikes, street bikes, and even kids’ ones.
Sherbrook Mayor Évelyne Beaudin said, “I can only look forward to meeting even more citizens on bikes in the future.
Estrie Aide Executive Director, Michel Lesage, added that “this would not have been possible without the donations of the population”, warmly thanking all those who contributed to this year’s event.
A special thank you was also addressed to the bicycle cooperative La Déraille. Co-op members will be available to make minor mechanical adjustments on-site after purchasing a bike, free of charge.
Estrie Aide is proud to provide its community with good bikes at good prices, encouraging sustainable and fun mobility for the region.
After the event’s two years on the ice due to COVID-19, it seems people are more than eager to get back on the bike paths, and with the great weather, there’s never been a better time to buy two new wheels for the summer.
